The Arkansas
Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (AR BRIN)
is funded by a grant from the National Center for
Research Resources (NCRR), under the Institutional
Development Award (IDeA) Program of the National
Institutes of Health (NIH). The IDeA program was
established for the purpose of broadening the
geographic distribution of NIH funding for biomedical
and behavioral research. Currently NCRR supports BRIN
programs in 23 states and Puerto
Rico.
The goals of the
Arkansas BRIN are to:
- Expand
biomedical research opportunities for
undergraduate faculty and students through
collaborations with graduate research
institutions in Arkansas
- Stimulate
more proposals from Arkansas scientists
for federal grants in the biomedical sciences
- Advance
statewide expertise in the rapidly
developing disciplines of bioinformatics,
genomics, proteomics, and digital microscopy
The lead
institutions in the Arkansas BRIN are the
University of Arkansas
for Medical Sciences
University of
Arkansas, Fayetteville
University of
Arkansas at Little Rock.
